Traveling with a Breast Pump - Domestic Airline Guidance
The United States Food and Drug Administration classifies breast pumps as medical devices. Accordingly, they should be allowed as a carry-on without impacting any airline-specific limits. However, some airlines or personnel may be unaware and in need of the specific regulations. The following includes a round-up of guidance regarding breast-pumps from domestic airlines.
ALASKA AIRLINES: Breast pump does not count towards carry-on limit.
ALLEGIANT: Medical device does not count towards carry-on bag or personal item.

AMERICAN AIRLINES: Breast pump, diaper bag (1 per child), small, soft-sided cooler of breastmilk do not count as personal item or carry-on.
BREEZE AIRWAYS: Breast pump does not count towards carry-on as long as it is in its own bag and it is carried by the user.
DELTA: May bring breast pump and associated cooler bag at no charge in addition to one-bag carry-on allowance
HAWAIIAN AIRLINES: No breast-pump-specific guidance exists, however, assistive devices do not count towards carry-on limits.
FRONTIER: Breast pump and breast milk may be brought onboard in addition to personal item.
JET BLUE AIRLINES: A breast pump, as a medical device, does not count towards carry-on limits, but the packaging must contain only the medical device.
SOUTHWEST: A breast pump does not count towards carry-on limits.
SPIRIT AIRLINES: Breast pump and baby formula do not count against carry-on allowance.
SUN COUNTRY AIRLINES: Breast pump, as medical device, does not count towards carry-on limit.
UNITED AIRLINES: A diaper bag and breast pump do not count towards carry-on and personal item.
